Genetically Superior Timber Trees

  • Black walnut has historically been a high value hardwood, improves land holdings and creates monetary value.
  • Black Walnut trees supply a nut crop, add beauty and are ideal for agroforestry plantings
  • Self fertile but better to use 2 varieties to ensure good crop
  • Stratified seed $5.00/lb
  • 1 - 2 foot seedling $10.00

Yellowhorn (Xanthoceras Sorbifolium)

  • A lovely, deciduous small tree with beautiful upright panicles of large white flowers with a deep red center in late spring.
  • At 3 to 4 years starts producing edible nuts in mid summer which can be eaten raw or roasted.
  • Full sun, average soil, height approx. 25 ft.
  • Self fertile but reported to do better with a pollinator

Pawpaw (Asimina Triloba)

  • A small tree about 8 m tall with delicate purple blooms in the spring appearing before the leaves.
